Privacy Policy

Carpool Scheduler is a service for organizing carpool schedules among groups of families. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
From organizers (people who create carpools): Your Apple ID identifier (provided by Sign in with Apple), your name, and any information you enter about your carpools — names of carpools, event dates and locations, and your own driving availability. We do not store your email address: Apple includes it in the signed token your device sends at sign-in, but we never record it, and it is not saved on your device either.
From participants (people who join carpools via a shared link): The name and child’s name you enter when joining, the pickup addresses you enter, and the availability information you provide. Participants do not create an account, so there are no passwords or logins to collect.
Automatically:Basic technical information needed to operate the service — IP address, device type, and timestamps of activity. We use Sentry, a third-party service, to receive crash reports and a small number of anonymous milestone events, such as the fact that a schedule was generated, so we can tell whether the app is working. Those events carry no names, addresses, or availability and are not linked to you. We do not use advertising trackers.
How we use it
We use this information to operate the service: to generate carpool schedules, to let organizers manage their carpools, and to ensure the service works reliably. We use Anthropic’s Claude API to process the natural-language availability descriptions you provide. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Where it lives
Your data is stored on servers operated by Fly.io in the United States. Daily database backups are kept with a cloud storage provider. Crash reports and the diagnostic events described above are held by Sentry. Apple stores information related to Sign in with Apple on its own servers, under its own policies.
Children
Carpool Scheduler is intended for use by adults who organize carpooling for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The names of children entered into the service by parents are used only to label schedules and are not used for any other purpose.
Your rights
Deleting your account removes everything. In the app, open the account menu and choose Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and every carpool you organize, including the participants’ names, addresses, and availability. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
Deleting a single carpool inside the app removes it from your device, but our servers keep that carpool’s data until your account is deleted. If you want one carpool erased from our servers without deleting your account, email us at hello@carpoolscheduler.com and we’ll do it.
If you are a participant and want your information removed, ask the organizer to remove you from the carpool, or email us at the same address.
